Adler Market is a must-see. Here they will drink wine, pomegranate juice and, most likely, be weighed, but they will do it beautifully, in the best traditions of the bazaar. Prices are not cheaper than store prices, but there is a large selection of fruits, vegetables, nuts, spices. After shopping, you can find a squat cafe building, glazed on all sides, without a name. According to some connoisseurs, the best khinkali in Greater Sochi are served here. The cost per serving of 5 pieces is 250 rubles.

Other delicious establishments in Adler:

• Karma is a modern cafe in the Imereti port, it's beautiful inside and the coffee is delicious, but we didn't like the food - although there is always a full seat.

If you walk along the embankment from the Olympic Park towards Abkhazia, immediately outside the territory of Radisson there is a restaurant Vysota 5642. To the left of it - cool burger... Prices are 350-400 rubles for a burger.

From canteens the "Seli-Poeli" network is good: fresh baked goods, the same prices in all establishments. There is a point at the railway station. The first, the second with meat / fish and compote with a bun will cost around 300 rubles.

Takeaway food sold in establishments with the sign "Cookery". Usually they take Kiev cutlets, zrazy, meatballs. The price for a cutlet is not more than 100 rubles.

It is better to buy groceries and baby goods in one of the supermarkets. The largest selection and lowest prices are in the Magnit hypermarket (on Prirechenskaya).

Transport in Adler - buses, taxis

Large buses need to be cooled by air conditioning, but in fact this is not the case.

Our experience: We preferred to avoid the wheeled steam room, but failed on two occasions. We traveled from the Olympic Park (Adler) to the Arboretum (Sochi) - 55-60 rubles per person; and moved around Adler itself - a fixed 19 rubles.

The only pleasant exception to the picture of public transport: electric trains "Swallows" following from Adler to Krasnaya Polyana - 235 rubles.

Taxis in Sochi are expensive. Even if you drive no more than 10 minutes, you will have to pay around 300 rubles. Yandex taxi is not well developed. It is not always possible to wait for the driver; no child fare.

Car rental in Adler

Renting a car in Adler is a great way to drive along the Black Sea coast. But not in the city itself, tk. the two main problems - traffic jams and wild interchanges - will drive you crazy.

Average economy class price from local distributors - 1200-1800 rubles / day (look at MyRentaCar). Child seats are paid separately (around 200 rubles / day). Some companies may ask for a deposit of 3,000 rubles or more. At hotels car rental costs from 2500 rubles.

I am updating information. Came to Adler car sharing (car rental by the minute through the mobile application). In the fall of 2020, due to pandemic restrictions, it worked like a regular rental, you can rent a car for at least a day. Fixed cost - 2000 rubles. The presence of a car allows you to rent an apartment in a non-tourist area. It's cheaper, and a bonus will be a stunning panorama of the sea. It is almost impossible to get to a kind of inexpensive housing in Adler without personal transport: impressive climbs without preparation are difficult to overcome in the heat.

Entertainment and excursions in Adler

It is better to stay at one of the resorts of Krasnaya Polyana for a few days. The most inexpensive option is Gorki Gorod. Locals often use this life hack: they take a vacation in the summer and leave the city swamped by burnt tourists for the mountains. Despite its proximity to Greater Sochi, Abkhazia retains its indescribable atmosphere. Bus tours are organized daily from Adler, the closest to the city border.

Our experience: we took a day excursion outside. Don't be afraid to bargain! So, we knocked out a price tag of 1500 rubles per person (and paid aside from other tourists who agreed to 2000-2500). We visited Gagra, Pitsunda, Lake Ritsa, Yupsharsky canyon and, of course, bee, wine, cheese farms (that is still a scam, but delicious).

You can also organize an individual excursion, the cheapest way will be on the Tripster (1750 rubles per person when traveling with four):

Those who are used to making their own routes can use public transport: buses and minibuses run to the Sovkhoz Rossiya stop. Further on foot across the border (allowed on a Russian passport). And again a minibus or a taxi.

It is very convenient to travel around Abkhazia on your own transport. The only "but", communication with the traffic police. A car with Russian license plates will be stopped almost 100% of the time.

Adler's beaches are not very diverse: more or less large pebbles. A straw bedding is definitely needed, just a towel will not help. Closer to the center - more people, entertainment, it can be noisy. As you move away - quieter.

The cleanest sea is the clearest! - in the Nizhneimeretinskaya Bay. They began to develop this area only for the Olympics, and therefore have not yet managed to turn it into ... something that is usually associated with domestic recreation at sea. We liked the beaches of South Star and Velvet Seasons: yes, nearby, but free two meters of pebbles could be found there at any time.

Some hotels provide umbrellas with sun loungers for their guests free of charge. For the rest, 200 rubles for a sunbed and 100 rubles for an umbrella per day. You can rent a tent with pillows (about 1000 rubles).

Holidays with children in Adler - reviews

Adler has a huge number of tourists with children. The main criteria for why parents choose a vacation in Russia are:

It is easier for older children to find friends and take leisure time on their own: all entertainment-animators are Russian-speaking.

With a small child, you need to take accommodation as close to the water as possible - and these are, as a rule, hotels. Long walks in 30-degree heat will tire the little ones. It is important to pay attention to the presence of air conditioning, especially if the child will sleep in the room during the day.

The main disadvantage of a vacation on the seashore with children in the Krasnodar Territory is intestinal infection. The annual epidemic peaks in July. Hospitals are overcrowded, and the general level of medical care in Sochi is low. Paid clinics are expensive: an appointment with a pediatrician costs about 600 rubles.

Precautionary measures: do not take sea water in your mouth, wash your hands, do not eat in questionable places. And the best thing is to plan a vacation with children in Adler on the Black Sea in June or September / October.

Where is the best place to stay in Adler?

In our opinion, Sovkhoz Russia, Nizhneimeretinskaya Bay are the best places to live. Conveniently located to the Olympic facilities, Sochi Park and Abkhazia, excellent sea and beaches. The only thing, a little tense with the infrastructure (from us to the store - 20 minutes walk). But this does not outweigh, especially since there are enough cafes and restaurants.

Most of the tourists who have visited Adler are in favor of staying in hotels. Either in modern, built by 2014, or in holiday homes that have earned themselves a positive reputation.

By the way, the rest in Adler in 2018 at the beginning of summer was superimposed on the FIFA World Cup. And if you only knew how the private sector hiked prices, especially for those who rented housing without intermediaries. Later, the excitement subsided, and housing prices near the sea returned to their previous level.

In Adler, rest without intermediaries on the sea can be good, both in a small guest house 40 minutes from the beach, and in a hotel on the shore. It all depends on the interests of tourists, the availability of a car, mobility and a positive attitude towards vacation! We were convinced of this personally, although we went to our coast with a great deal of skepticism.

We went to Adler for the standard resort 10 days a couple of years ago, and recently decided to spend October and November 2020 here. Therefore, I will make a comparative table of how much a tourist and a "winter man" can spend on the Black Sea.
