Khabarovsk is one of the easternmost cities in Russia. Although it is hundreds of kilometers away from the capital, neither the Civil War, nor the Great Patriotic War, nor other important milestones in the history of the country passed by. The streets of the city were filled with monuments starting from the end of the century before last. Some of them were destroyed during the Soviet era, others were replaced with copies, and others still delight citizens and tourists with their appearance.
The Glory Square of Khabarovsk is decorated with a memorial military complex. It was created for decades, but it looks like a single whole. The reason is the original idea, which included three stages of construction. In recent years, after the restoration of streets and boulevards, interesting art objects have appeared on them, such as "Signs of the Zodiac" or "Ladies with a Dog". "Eternal flame"
The memorial complex in honor of fellow countrymen who died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War was created for the 40th anniversary of the Victory. It was inaugurated in 1985. In the center of the composition on the Square of Glory is the bowl of the Eternal Flame. The flame was lit from a torch brought from Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The names of the heroes are inscribed on black slabs and pylons: there are more than 19 thousand of them. During the 2015 restoration, new surnames were added.
"Compatriots who died in local wars and military conflicts"
The monument has been located on the Square of Glory since 2003. 3 black pylons are placed on a granite pedestal. Glory Monument
One of the first objects erected on the Glory Square. It was installed in 1975 for the 30th anniversary of the Victory. A large group of artists and sculptors worked on the creation of the project. Khabarovsk became the 40th city to be awarded such a high rank. In 2015, in honor of this event, a stele with a height of 16.5 meters was opened. It is located on the square of the same name. Monument to Marshal A.M. Vasilevsky

Monument to N.N.Muravyov-Amursky
In 1891, the project to erect a monument in honor of the Governor-General of Eastern Siberia was personally approved by Alexander III. The monument did not last long: in the first years of the Bolshevik rule, it was thrown down and melted down. However, the drawings have survived, so in 1992 they managed to recreate the landmark and place it in its original place. The monument is a visiting card of Khabarovsk: it is even depicted on the five thousandth banknote.
Monument to Yakov Dyachenko
Opened in 2008 opposite the local history museum. Dyachenko in 1858 landed on these lands together with his 13th line battalion. This became the starting point in the history of the city. "To the Heroes of the Civil War in the Far East"
Location - Komsomolskaya Square. Installation date - 1956. The sculptor is Andrey Faydysh-Krandievsky, the architect is Mikhail Barshch. The height of the obelisk is 22 meters. It is made of gray granite and has a star on top. In front of the obelisk there are three three-meter figures: a commissar, a partisan, a soldier of the Crane Guard, as well as a developing banner. Monument to A.S. Pushkin
Located at the Pedagogical Institute. A full-length concrete monument to Pushkin stood in the park from 1949 to 1986. Monument to N.P. Zadornov
The opening took place in 1999. Nikolai Zadornov is known to theatergoers in Siberia and the Far East as a versatile actor and director. There are also many literary works in his arsenal. The project of the monument to Vladimir Baburov was approved by both the authorities and the Zadornov family. They also helped with funding. The seated writer faces Cupid, who has repeatedly mentioned in his works.
Bust of Marshal R. Ya. Malinovsky
Created by sculptor Eduard Malovinsky in 2002. Then it was installed in the city park. Marshal - twice Hero of the USSR. In honor of the troops he commanded, salutes were given 49 times in the capital. Malinovsky made a tangible contribution to the history of Khabarovsk. Here, among other things, was his headquarters. Monument to Far Eastern Border Guards
It has been located on Ussuriysky Boulevard since 2008. The 15-meter stele is made of marble. It bears the coat of arms of the border troops. Below is a short background note. The main part of the monument is the bas-reliefs showing the everyday life of the Far Eastern border guards. In the past, this place is a military-themed obelisk table. It was dismantled due to wear and tear and loss of relevance.
"Black Tulip"
Located at the stadium. The monument was created to immortalize the names of those killed in Afghanistan. Subsequently, all the soldiers and officers who participated in operations outside the country began to be celebrated here. The black tulip is sandwiched between two slabs, but does not stop blooming. On its petals, you can see traces of shells. Another monument with the same name can be found at the Glory Square.
"Young defenders of Khabarovsk"
The monument is dated 1977. It is dedicated to the heroes of the civil war, who planted a new order in the region. Initially, the monument was made of plaster. From time to time it fell into disrepair and was dismantled in 1994. 10 years later, at the initiative of local communists, the monument was converted into metal and returned to its original place. A capsule with a message to descendants was kept at the base until 2018.
"Steam locomotive of the first five-year plans"
After the Civil War, it became necessary to restore old and build new roads to transport goods over long distances.One of the lines was completed in the mid-30s, and the first steam locomotive passed along it with two attached carriages at once. On the 40th anniversary of DEPO, an unusual monument appeared at the Khabarovsk-2 station - a steam locomotive leaving the wall. This is how the authorities immortalized part of the city's history.
Monument to Peter and Fevronia
Monuments to Peter and Feronia Muromsky have been erected in many parts of Russia. Their story is instructive and inspiring. The author of the composition is Konstantin Chernyavsky. Monument to the partisans
The composition consists of an obelisk, which is 14 meters high, and a sculpture, whose size is almost three times smaller. In the hands of a valiant warrior, a lowered banner is a tribute to the comrades who laid down their heads in the struggle. A monument is dedicated to all who fought for the power of the Soviets. The area around has had a bad name in the past. The area was called “the ravine of death”, as local residents were shot and buried here.
"Two-headed eagle"
Located at the railway station. The sight has a difficult fate. The “two-headed eagle” appeared in Khabarovsk in 1900 and became the first monument of the city. It was dedicated to the military, who took part in the laying of rails on the Far Eastern Railway. The sculpture was partially destroyed during the Civil War. For some time the stele stood empty, later it was dismantled, and the monument was restored, but moved.
"Tank T-34"
Another military monument was opened in 1975. It is dedicated to Dalenergomash workers and tankers who fought in the region. "Hands of the World"
The composition appeared at the intersection of the central streets of the city - Volochaevskaya and Lenin - in 2008. A composition based on Chekhov's work appeared in the city after the reconstruction of Amur Boulevard in 2008. The lady is sitting on a cast-iron bench, holding her hat with one hand, and stroking a small dog with the other. Since there is a free space nearby, the monument was chosen by tourists and newlyweds who arrange photo sessions. "The Bremen Town Musicians"
In 2010, sculptures from the fairy tale "The Bremen Town Musicians" were installed near the lower pond on Ussuriysky Boulevard. Their frame is made of stainless steel, and the copper plating makes them seem lightweight. There is another monument on this theme on Pushkin Street. "Zodiac signs"
Located on Amursky Boulevard. All objects here are part of a metal sculpture competition. Not all signs of the zodiac have been established yet, but it is planned to complete the composition as the presented projects with a general concept are implemented. Although the individual figures were made by different craftsmen, they look like a single whole. After the whole set is assembled, a thematic square will be set up around.
Artillery battery of the 19th century
The Khabarovsk Museum of Local Lore is considered one of the largest in the country. It contains many interesting exhibits. Airplane-monument Su-7B
This type of air combat transport began to be created back in the 50s of the last century. By the time the serial production was launched, it had not many analogues in the world. A tribute was paid to the plane in Khabarovsk, having installed it in the form of a monument. The silver Su-7B has settled at a military airfield. During the construction of the interchange, it was temporarily dismantled, but later returned to the same area, but to a different location.
